Happy New Year to You! and a Review :)

11 Jan

Happy New Year!  I hope 2012 has been good to you.

I liked to share with you a wonderful product.  As part of the Purex Insiders, I get to review some of their newest products from time to time.  I have always been a fan of Purex because it is a liquid detergent that does not irritate my husband’s skin.  I was excited when they sent me one of  their new products Purex Triple Action.

Purex Triple Action is new and improved.  It stands by the Purex Promise to leave your clothes bright, white and clean.

It is also:

* Hypoallergenic for sensitive skin

* Dermatologist tested

* 100% free of perfumes and dyes

It works in all machine types including High Efficiency washers.   It not only comes in Free and Clear, but will be in all your favorite Purex scents.

My Thoughts:

I am very pleased with this product.  Our laundry came out very clean and bright.  It definitely didn’t have a smell which I loved.  It makes it easier for the times I spray on body spray or perfume.  I don’t have to worry about it mixing with the laundry scent.   I have always been a fan of Purex because not only does their product work but it is half the price of leading brands.

Check back for a great giveaway coming soon!

Disclosure:  Purex provided a free sample of their Triple Action laundry detergent so I could write a review, However all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Halloween History and a Costume Review

27 Oct

Halloween is quickly approaching.  There are many stories and legends about Halloween.  Halloween History is very fascinating to read about.   Do you know how it got the name Halloween?   Do you know when we first started celebrating it?  Do you carve a pumpkin?   How about when trick or treating started?  Many of the things you do to celebrate Halloween came from ancient celebrations.

In 601 A.D. by Pope Gregory(1st), wanted his missionaries to use the customs of pagans/natives in hopes to convert them Christianity.  Holy Days of the church were often celebrated around the same time of pagan/native holidays.  All Saints Day was moved to November 1st in 835 A.D, most likely to coincide with Samhain.

Halloween originated from Samhain, an ancient Celtic festival.  Allhallowmas was a mass said on that day, also known as “the mass of all the holy ones”.   The evening before All Saints Day was referred to All Hallow e’en or the evening of the holy ones.  Halloween is a Christian name derived from All Saints Day.

Before pumpkins were even popular to carve, potatoes, beets and turnips were what the people of Europe carved.  They were first used as lanterns to ward off evil spirits. Once the tradition hit the United States,  pumpkins became very popular because they were widely available then other vegetables. They were also much bigger and easier to carve.

Trick or Treating didn’t become popular till sometime after 1930.  This developed in modern time in America.  It has become wide spread across the word.
Halloween is also one of the top grossing holidays in the U.S due to the costume and candy sales.  The only other holiday that beats out Halloween is Christmas.

I love to celebrate Halloween.  We don’t do anything extravagant but, I do like to dress up and pass out candy.  If you remember my review  from last year.  I had the wonderful opportunity to work with the same company again.  This year I reviewed a Mermaid costume.

I just have to say that it is fabulous.  I was at first a little worried at how it was going to fit with out having tried it on but it fits great.  I love the color and the beautiful sequins.  It even comes with straps if you feel more comfortable then going strapless.   It is a great quality costume and I highly recommend you check out all the wonderful mermaid Halloween costumes they have to offer.  You won’t be disappointed.

p.s  It is not to late to order 🙂

Land O’ Frost Wrap Kit- Review

14 Aug

About Land O’ Frost Wrap Kits-

“We know you will enjoy the delicious taste and ultra-convenience of our new Wrap Kit.  We take pride in making them with wholesome, fresh and suprerior quality ingredients.  Our family has been making “Great Tasting Lunchmeats” for over 50 years, and you can count on the fact that we never cut corners when it comes to quality.”

Summer is coming to an end.  School is starting. Now is the time to start thinking about your kids lunches. You can keep packing sandwiches day after day………boring.

I would love to introduce to you the New Land O’ Frost Wrap Kits.  They are a fun, easy, and quick way to make lunches, whether you need a fast lunch for work or want to change things up for your child.

My Thoughts:

These wraps are so yummy and super convenient.  In each kit you get wraps, lunchmeat and cheese. Each kit makes 5 wraps.  I was provided with 2 kits for review.  One kit included oven roasted turkey slices, wraps and pepper jack cheese. Everything was individually packaged and then packed together in a double zip stay fresh pouch. The wraps were super fresh.  The sliced turkey was also fresh and tasted good.  I have honestly never been a fan of pepper jack cheese, but in this kit it was very good. I do have to warn you though it does have a kick to it.  If you do not like spicy cheese this kit is not for you.  The second kit included, black forest ham, wraps and swiss cheese. Once again everything included was so fresh and individually packaged then packed together in a double zip stay fresh pouch.

You can either eat them cold or warm.  You can customize them to however you or your kids would enjoy them.  I think they would also be great with some lettuce and ranch salad dressing.  You can add assorted veggies and other condiments, too.  What do you enjoy in your wraps?
